In order to ensure your new flooring is installed correctly and performs as we expect it to, we need to make sure your subfloor is smooth, sound, flat and permanently dry. A damp sub floor will cause your new flooring to fail if moisture is not controlled properly.
We achieve this by using many different techniques all depending on subfloor type, desired floor covering and even type of building.

We carry out moisture meter readings. We check for damp using a non-invasive moisture meter test, this also tells us if the floor is dry enough to recieve a floor covering. If the reading is too high this indicates that we need to apply a DPM or MVS to the subfloor to ensure your new flooring lasts.

Mechanical Floor grinding and Sanding - The initial stage of our works on any concrete or calcium sulphate preparation.
We grind floors to remove surface contaminants, either laitance (a weak crust/ layer) formed during a new sub floor drying process or old adhesives or other contaminants, such as previous screeds are present. These contaminants are removed prior to installing new screed, DPM or Mo

MVS - Moisture Vapour Suppressant
We install Moisture Vapour Suppressant on new concrete and calcium sulphate floors if the floor is found to be above 75% RH. We carry this out after the floor has been mechanically prepared.
The main purpose of the MVS is to prevent your new floor from failing due to construction moisture weakening adhesive and screed bonds

DPM - Damp Proof Membrane
We install damp proof Membranes when there is no existing damp proof under the subfloor.
